Would You Tell Me?

I get stuck between my former marketing/branding professional life and my new home as ED of NL and a home owner/consumer who is spending a lot of money on home renovations.

The marketing position and the ED kind of go hand in hand because I get to analyze and implement a lot of ideas that I have with NL. Not all the ideas are feasible and I’m having to figure out how to do a lot of things for free, but it’s all stretching me to be better at what I do.

On the consumer part, I’m getting a lot of opportunities to work with big-box retailers, independent contractors, small business, etc. I’m learning a lot from these interactions. To be honest it’s making me really think about how I’m doing at NL or positioning the organization.

Some of the small businesses I’m working with I can relate to as ED of NL. Now, I’m not selling anything tangible but I’m am selling an intangible kinda. I’m selling the organization to prospective supporters whether it’s project sources or volunteers.

I recognize the weaknesses of small businesses and their struggles but do they? Are they open to consumer input? Are we as consumers comfortable sharing our opinions? Are we afraid of telling someone that they don’t like particular aspects of how they handle business? There are a lot of questions.

The reason I am writing this is that I NEED you to tell me what you’re experiencing with NL as an organization you’re considering or have been investing your time into. I understand my weaknesses are represented deeply in the organization because it’s just me here on a daily basis. Having said that, it’s even more important you let me know.

I know it might be tough for you to share your opinions with me because they might be directed at me. Trust me, I won’t lash out at you. I’ll receive your comments and process them.

Use the comments section of this post to share with me if you have any issues. You can even leave it anonymously.

Thanks…
