TUFW - Community Connection Event

Just got back from a community networking event at Taylor University Fort Wayne in which TUFW invited SE area community leaders/non-profit organizations/neighborhood associations/churches(which I have to mention, none showed up)/members of the city of Fort Wayne to attend an informational gathering. TUFW is about to implement a number of initiatives that will require their students become more hands on throughout their college education with local businesses, churches, and non-profit organizations. It’s all part of the service learning and leadership development models they are developing.

This makes me truly excited. Who better than a christian university to be actively engaged in a community to bring forth change? Since being out of college and looking back over my time at college, I wish either I had gotten more involved or there were more mandated opportunities to connect to things outside of myself. I believe that these experiences will better equip them to interact with the so called “real world" effectively for Christ.

I look forward to seeing how this all comes around and how best use NLFW to get them involved. I know I have a lot of projects within a couple of miles from campus.
