Transformation on Cook Rd

I have a group of volunteers at NeighborLink that are not shy about taking on big projects. They’re at it again and the project they’ve taken on is by far one of the bigger projects that will be taken on this year.

They’ve decided to do a major overhaul on the inside of this house. The owner is a grandmother who is responsible for two of her infant grandchildren full time as well as the caretaker for her elderly grandmother. The owner of the property also recently had a heart attack which has left her without a lot of strength.

The team is gutting the inside of this small house for the most part. New sub-flooring needs installed; old paneling wall covering will get torn down and replaced with insulation and drywall; new kitchen cupboards will get installed; new flooring will get added; new baseboard electrical heat will get installed; and a whole lot of other things.

Here is a couple volunteers carrying out old metal cupboards.

I’m grateful for these volunteers who are responding the call the Lord has placed on their hearts to be His hands and feet. It’s truly an example of the James 3:14-17 passage our intern wrote about in the previous post.

This is a special group of volunteers who call themselves The Nameless. If you’re on Facebook, you should check out their page and join them on this project or a future project.

If you want to donate specifically to this project, please do so by either sending a check or donating online via Paypal. Here is the shopping list that I’m going to buy today, which will be a few hundred dollars. Remember that 100% of your donation will go directly to buying materials for projects like this one.

  • 15 sheets of drywall (4’ x 8’ x 3/4")
  • 200 feet of insulation
  • 5 2" x 6" x 12’
  • 3 4’ x 8’ x 3/4" plywood
  • 12 2" x 4" x 8’
  • box of 3 1/2" wood screws
