The Linchpin Challenge

My friend Craig Crook released a number of copies of Seth Godin’s newest book called Linchpin on Twitter the other day to encourage a local dialogue around the concepts of the book.

Inside the cover, the book describes Linchins as “the essential building blocks of great organizations. Like the small piece of hardware that keeps a wheel from falling off it’s axle, they may not be famous but they’re indispensable. And in today’s world, they get the best jobs and the most freedom."

Craig describes this reading challenge on his blog as follows:

Awhile back I bought 50 copies of a book called Linchpin and have been giving them to speakers, friends and others as I’m inspired.

I have also been contemplating the best way to release more books and have been toying with the idea of having people write a nugget in the book and passing it along.  This would be great, except that I selfishly want to know what people learn, so I thought I would put the “book jacket” online and let people submit there nuggets here.

I’ve just started reading the book today and am already excited to read it. I will be posting nuggets from the book in upcoming days or weeks based on my reading habits that relate to my feelings towards the concepts of the books. It’s also really encouraging to be reading this with a group of people I respect around the Fort Wayne community that I believe are already Linchpins that inspire me to push NeighborLink into being a great organization.

If you’d like to read along and join the discussion, you can follow along over at Craig’s blog where he’s encouraging us to share and dialogue on the book.
