Shared Enthusiasm
Being a blog contributor, I can’t help but follow other blogs to read and see what others find important to post. There is a lot of blog chatter going on as expected post inauguration.
I was reading through and someone had posted quite a few excerpts from President Obama’s speech from yesterday and I wanted to pass them on to you. There were many more that I wish I could have remembered.
I can’t lie, I’m a supporter. I don’t know what will happen during his presidency, but I do know that if we can all pull together like he’s asking us to, I think it could quite possibly a great 4 year term.
I don’t put my hope in this man but in the principles that he’s proposing. Seem full of hope and promise and sounds a little like our heavenly leader.
“It is the risk-takers, the doers…. often the obsure…. that struggled and sacrificed so that we may live a better life….”
“We will extend a hand, if you will unclench a fist….”
“Know that your people will judge you on what you can build, not what you destroy”
"On this day, we gather because we have chosen hope over fear, unity of purpose over conflict and discord…. On this day, we come to proclaim an end to the petty grievances and false promises, the recriminations and worn out dogmas, that for far too long have strangled our politics. We remain a young nation, but in the words of Scripture, the time has come to set aside childish things. The time has come to reaffirm our enduring spirit; to choose our better history; to carry forward that precious gift, that noble idea, passed on from generation to generation: the God-given promise that all are equal, all are free, and all deserve a chance to pursue their full measure of happiness."
