Love In Deed Presentation

I was asked to share more about NeighborLink at a monthly breakfast gathering of faith-based non profit directors put on by Love In Deed this morning. Love in Deed is a strategic planning and consulting organization that helps churches and faith-based organizations with their organizational development needs.

I’ve been attending this gathering each month since I started at NeighborLink two years ago. It’s a valuable community to belong to.

In the weeks prior to today, I’ve been stressing on what to speak on in regards to NeighborLink because everyone knows about NeighborLink and what we do for the most part. After thinking about it, I chose to focus on some behind the scenes stories that really make NeighborLink unique and great.

I shared about the pressing issues many of our recipients are facing and some not so ethical practices I’m just becoming aware of as I’m getting more and more requests from folks who have bought houses that have needs beyond they’re means. I’m hearing situations where houses should have never been sold, let alone to folks in fixed incomes.

I also shared about some of our great volunteers and the projects they fearlessly take on. I told of the tremendous transformation that takes place in not only the recipients property or lives, but in the volunteers hearts.

It turned out to be a good morning full of discussion about what happens when you intentionally choose to love someone through service in ways that don’t come naturally.

Thanks Love in Deed for the opportunity.
