In Hope City

Just a note for you that are following the blog and know that I’m in Gulfport, MS this week for one last trip to Hope City.

We made it around 2:30p this afternoon after splitting our trip up last night by getting to Alabama before stopping and getting some sleep. Man, this trip seems longer each time.

We rolled into the camp only to find it in “transition." Hope City is officially done and just wrapping up some projects and the goal of the trip was to help out the family that runs the camp so they can leave for their holiday break.

It was kind of sad rolling into camp today as the camp is all torn up. The various trailers have been sold and gone to a new home and everything else has been parcelled out to various other organization or returned to their owners. Only a few things remain that remind you of the past 3 years of trips to serve the members of the Gulf Coast.

It’s bittersweet, but we’re all really excited to be here. It’s going to be a great week working in a small group of guys that are all really skilled, except me. But, that’s why I’m here, to learn from all these guys.

I’ll be busting out the camera tomorrow so get ready for some pictures.
