City has final forum on budget | The Journal Gazette

I was here last night listening in on what the SW neighborhood partnership had to say about everything and to hear what the felt need was for this area of our city. It did get unruley and many questions regardless of their validity were asked in the wrong meeting. Many people seemed very frustrated and even downright angry about decisions that the city have made in the past. To be honest, most of the question were very uninformed and lacked a knowledge of the full story to be accurate. Even to a point where once the question was answered, the person asking the question seemed to be relieved of their anger.

I was blown away by how angry people are about these things and how angry people can get in general. It wasn’t healthy.

I think the city did a very good job answering what questions were posed and provided the correct avenues for people to find additional information regarding their questions. Everyone was very open to receive phone calls.

If I put my marketing hat on for a second, based on the 3 meetings I have been, the city needs to be doing this more often. I hope they learned a lesson in PR. If they were to do these types of meetings regularly where they go to the citizens, I think the perception of the city might change.
