A Simple Knock

Received this note from a NLFW volunteer a week or so ago and I wanted to share it with you all.

Just wanted to share with you a story of how God used me for a random act of kindness. It was a couple months ago after a snow storm. I had shoveled my walk and driveway, as well as my neighbor’s who had a heart attack a couple years ago. As I finished his sidewalk, I realized that my neighbor on the other side had not yet shoveled his walkway. Without a second thought I proceeded to go and shovel his walk as well. But as I was finishing his walk, I got to thinking. I hadn’t seen the guy in a couple weeks, and he is an able-bodied man, why is he not out shoveling his own walk? So, by the prompting of the Holy Spirit I went to knock on his door and check on him. As it turns out, he had lost his job and was falling into depression. He was very open to sharing with me and I was able to pray with him and really encourage him. Since that time he has come to church with me a few times and is being more productive in his job search. Of course, my greatest hope is that God would use this time to bring him into the kingdom, and eventually a job would be nice as well. Anyway, just thought I should share that with you … you never know when a simple knock on the door will turn into something so much more.

Peace and Blessings,

NLFW Volunteer
