5.21 Message From The Link - Extreme Home Makeover
Yeah, I know. Extreme Home Makeover.
I got this call from a casting director yesterday wanting to know if I knew of anyone in our community that could really benefit from receiving a house and would be someone America could really root for. What this tells me is that they found out about NeighborLink by the work that our volunteers have been doing. It’s out there and know via any Google search you do about volunteering in Fort Wayne, IN.
Knowing the deadline is this Friday, I looked through our project list and make some contacts to others and have come up with a list of families that have experienced tragedy, hardship, and have shown a heroic and generous spirit to their community. It’s exciting for me to be able to pass on this information to them and wait and see if anyone makes it to the show.
This could be a long shot for these families and we don’t hang our hat on whether or not it pulls through.
Now that we know about these families, what do we do?
Do we wait and see? or do we rally together NOW to help?
How about for a recently widowed father in his 30’s who now has 3 kids to take care of?
How about for the family that has adopted 10 kids of which some have some disabilities who are struggling to keep their home?
How about the family that no matter how hard they try, things keep happening like car accidents and a basement that’s falling in?
How about the family I did a NL project for 4yrs ago who has physical disabilities who has served with Turnstone for years and needs a house to fit their growing needs.
Matthew 7:13-14
13"Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. 14But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.
Some times I wonder if these are the Narrow Gate avenues that the “Life" and glimpses of the Kingdom lie.
I hope I’m staying on the narrow road.
The greatest part, the road is long enough for us all to find our place on it.

If you’d like to find our more about the above families and how you can enter into their mess with them and do what you can, let me know. I’ll make the connection the best I can.
