Grace and Peace Friends. Spring has arrived and we are ready for it around here.
My wife is so excited about the tulips that are sprouting that we didn’t even know we had at our new house. We’re not done inside yet and she’s already planning all the plants she wants to plant. I’m hearing about people mowing their grass already. Just last Saturday teams from Fellowship Missionary were helping some elderly folks get ready for spring. Unfortunately, one team was removing perennial beads and turning them back to grass because she could no longer take care of them. Although I’m sure the recipient was sad to see them go, it was a wise decision.
I’m sure you have things buzzing around your house as you begin cleaning up the remaining leaves, getting the yard equipment tuned for the year, and planning your garden.
I wouldn’t be doing my job if I didn’t advocate for and express the opportunities that were awaiting you with your neighbors. I’m getting so many calls from elderly and disabled that seem to go unnoticed and left marginalized because of their physical limitations. We all see those yards as we drive home. Here is a story from a NLFW volunteer that messaged me a few weeks ago about a simple act of kindness that begun by a simple knock on the door.
On another note, I could really use your help promoting and supporting the Spring Service event scheduled for April 18th. If you know people that have needs, post their projects. If you can help but aren’t connected to a church, let me know and I can get you connected with a group of volunteers from your area. If you have trucks or trailers, we need your help. We’ll need help getting the limbs hauled away to the dump site off of Lake Ave. The City of FW will not be picking up limbs anymore which leaves them in our hands.
I hope you’ve had an encouraging week. I know I have. I have been reading through Mark 15 and 16 as well as Rob Bell’s book called Jesus Wants to Save Christians and am being reminded of God place in my life in preparation for Easter. God cares about his people. He’s asking us to partake in expanding the Kingdom.
