Orth Family

October 2012 - Orth Family - Fort Wayne, IN

Sometimes family photo shoots get a little crazy. This one was one of those in a good way. Alison and Steve are friends from college and have created this great family with four wonderful kids. Doing the photo shoot at their house was the perfect choice as it shows them at who they really are and gives that true family vibe.

After doing all these family shoots lately, I've learned that it's crucial to get the traditional structured family shoots that you hope to nail out of the way first while the kids aren't quite sure what to expect and they're on their best behavior. Once those are done, things start to fall apart and then we just try to capture life as it happens. This is when the true personalities come out and the forced smiles fade away.

If all my family shoots were for families like the Orths, I'd be alright with that. One of my favorite things with photography is capturing life as it happens and seeing what you end up with. It always tells a great story and usually always makes the family happen to see photos of their family as they see it and love it every day.

Thanks Alison and Steve for the opportunity to take your photos and for all the support as we welcome twins to our family. I'm glad we get to see each other on a regular basis these days.
