Young & Purposeful

I was invited to a “bring your own lunch" networking meeting for young professionals working in non-profits in Fort Wayne a few weeks back. I was excited about the idea because what a better place for young professional to forum about issues they face as leaders in the non-profit sector. I’ll admit that I was a bit skeptical about attendance because even know we as young leaders might find validity in something like this, we still have commitment issues.

I was surprised by the actually attendance. There were around 20 or so folks there. All types of non-profits were represented and all levels of leadership. There were 3 executive directors and a lot of program directors.

The meeting started out with who we were and quickly dove into what type of outlet in a meeting we would all want. We want a place where we can show up, share our stories, share our struggles, and find guidance through shared stories. Now, I know there are quite a few other groups meeting and I attend those, but I think this could be a great outlet for me to share about NeighborLink and get people behind what we’re doing.

Great lunch. Thanks for the Allen County Library and their non-profit resource center for organizing this and taking an initiative.

I look forward to the next meeting
