Winding Down // Blog by Hilary

This weekend was a hectic one, but a lot of good was done.  I met Andrew at FMC before we ventured off to our projects.  I met some great people along the way.  I worked for a couple hours painting the inside walls of apartments.  These people were refugees from another country.  They barely spoke English.  Their living conditions were not in good shape, but honestly, it was probably ten times better than where they were before.  I have always been the one to hop in on any painting project, so this was a breeze.  I realized that one we were doing that day, whether it was cleaning or painting will make such a difference for these people.

I couldn’t stay the whole time because our soccer team was also doing a day of service.  This all happened just by coincidence but I thought it was great!  Even though my team wasn’t directly involved with the service through NeighborLink or FMC, we were still volunteering and helping, which was the whole idea behind that day.  After that, we had a soccer game.  By the end of the day I was wiped out.  It was a long, very eventful day, but well worth it.

The school year is coming to an end and once again I cannot believe how fast it went.  I just have one more year of college.  AHH that freaks me out!   Finals are next week and then I will be off to Tennessee for little break!  All I can say though, is that I am really content with out my life is playing out.  I could not be happier with my friends, my experiences, and God.  There are still a lot of things in my life that are uncertain but it doesn’t matter.  I know God is in control and he will take care of me.
