Sharing the Pain

This week I’ve had glimpses of what it’s like to find out what it’s like to have your furnace turned off when you have it inspected. You do what you think is right by having it checked out or to be cleaned, only to be shown cracks and told that they legally have to turn it off because of carbon monoxide possibilities. Your then faced with the only option, which is to have it replaced. Then you’re looking at a price between $3,000 - $5,000 to have a new one installed.

I just got back from having our plumbing estimated. Someone had stolen the copper while the house was sitting empty. We decided to purchase the house as is knowing that we were going to have to replace it. What I just found out is what I thought was going to be a few hundred dollar project is turning into a few thousand dollar project. It’s going to require more than we knew going in.

For us, we knew that we were going to have to put some major work into the house and we got a really good deal on the house, but it’s still a bummer because we’re going to have not do some improvements that we desired to do because of these things.

I write to say that I’m connecting to the feelings and burdens that folks are feeling that seek assistance from NLFW.

I now what it’s like to get bad news when you were just trying to do right. I’m feeling the cost of what it takes to keep a house in running properly. IT’S EXPENSIVE.

We’re sharing the pain!
