Recent Volunteer Story

Back in June, I received a team of young adults from the Cincinnati, OH area that wanted to volunteer for NeighborLink for a few days.

I just received a written recap of their experiences here.

This past June, a small group of young adults from Trinity United Methodist Church in Milford, OH took a trip to Fort Wayne, IN to do some mission work through NeighborLink. Although the trip was short, we were able to make the most of our time in Fort Wayne by completing several small projects off of NeighborLink’s extensive to-do list.

The first project that we completed was some light household cleaning for an elderly disabled woman. She was very so grateful that we were willing to give our time to come help her. We then moved onto another project that involved some indoor painting for a woman that was not able to do so herself. When we finished the painting, we were able to further help her out by fixing the banister on her staircase and by installing a handrail outside by the steps up to her porch. Lastly, we completed two lawn mowing / yard work projects for some elderly women. On our last day in Fort Wayne, we volunteered at a local food bank by handing out food to those in need.

Overall, our experience with NeighborLink was awesome. We were very impressed with the way the organization is set up and run, and we believe that they are doing a great thing in Fort Wayne. We would like to thank Andrew Hoffman for working with us and helping us to accomplish our mission.

It was great to have them come and do a few projects. They’re presence was well timed and made an impact in those they served.
