Official 2011 NeighborLink Statistics

I’m excited to announce the official NeighborLink Fort Wayne Statistics from this past year. Total number of projects completed, number of volunteer opportunities, and the approximate value of the time donated. 

I’m incredibly proud and honored to run this organization. The volunteers who choose to spend time with NeighborLink are second to none. 

Here are a couple of details you should know about these numbers.

Volunteer Opportunities - We don’t track how many volunteers actually volunteer on our projects nor do we track the number of hours. In order to track both of those statistics accurately, we would have to have a team of staff to follow up with each project or all volunteers would be diligent to report those statistics after each project. Since both of those are nearly impossible, we make an educated guess based on over 8 years of monitoring NeighborLink projects. We know that on average, there are 3 people per project and the project length is about 3 hours. These numbers are very conservative considering we’ll have teams of 10 or more people and teams that take on multi-day projects.

Value of a Volunteer - We actually value our volunteers more than the $17.61 that IndependentSector.org values Indiana volunteer hours, but since they have standardized a value, we’ll use it.  These numbers are from the last year available, which is 2009.
