October Volunteer Spotlight

This month we are featuring volunteer extraordinaire- Stan Yake. He was nominated by NeighborLink recipients who wrote in that Stan has gone “above and beyond to help me and my family through a difficult time of unemployment and lack of income.”  Stan and team

“dedicated their efforts to ensure we had a safe and sound dwelling we could live in.  They demonstrated the love of God through their kindness, availability and friendship. Stan especially deserves much recognition as he made numerous repairs to our house to make it safe and functional including making repairs and donating supplies after a break in to our home. We stand in awe of these gentlemen and their Christlike example-ship."

(Stan, left on the trailer, using his truck and trailer to help during a moving project)

Please keep sharing stories with us of others like Stan whom are serving all over the city.   We hope for more emails so we can keep featuring volunteers and sending out more of the new Neighborlink t-shirts!

Hope this keeps you inspired,
Michelle Hoffman

1. How long have you been a Neighborlink volunteer?  I have been a volunteer for about three years. I have been a coach for the last two of those years.

2. What side of town do you live on?  I live on the south east side of town.

3. Is there anyone you like to volunteer with (family/friends, small group, church, agency)?  I do work with Blackhawk when they have work days.  Most of my work is by myself.

4. Where did you first hear of Neighborlink?  I heard about Neighborlink thru Blackhawk.

5. What kind of projects are you most attracted to?  I do mostly construction type projects.  I have retired from homebuilding and have tools and time.  I do some leaf pick up and have done moving.

6. What motivates you to continue volunteering?  I just feel that the help is badly needed and I still have my health and time and I like to do it.
