Networking
Networking is an interesting thing. Entrepreneurial Networking as defined on Wikipedia is as close to a traditional definition of networking as I can find.
Networking makes the world go round. It’s how things get done in our country. In my short working career that statement that it’s who you know, not what you know, has rung true. The three jobs that I’ve held since graduating college were found through a network of people. Now, I had to know something and be intelligent enough to get the job and do the work, but not one of them was found through sending my resume in, having an interview, and getting the job. There was a relational tie to each one of them.
In my job at NeighborLink, this is still true. In order for the mission of NeighborLink to be carried out, there must be a relational network of people communicating and working togther to get things done and grow as an organization. I must network with leaders from all types or organizations to locate projects, volunteers, and material & financial resources.
It’s a tiring process.. It’s very rewarding when you can see the results of the network taking place.
Overall, I’m encouraged by the relationships that are formed through this. I get to meet a lot of passionate leaders and volunteers who love Jesus and want to see His Kingdom here on Earth. They desire for those in need to find grace and peace.
So, Networking is must have tool regardless of how good you are at it..
