NeighborLink Volunteers Complete 300 Projects in 2011

I’m excited to announce that NeighborLink Coaches, VOlunteers, and a lot of local Fort Wayne churches have self-selected, organized, and completed over 300 projects to date in 2011. This is 90 projects over last year at this time, which is almost a 30% increase over last year. More than just completed projects, we know that relationships have been developed and lives have been transformed. We’ve seen volunteers walk alongside recipients for weeks at a time helping them find the solutions to their needs. We’ve had volunteers help cancer patients with sorting through their belongings and navigate their medical paperwork. We’ve seen yards mowed, kitchens painted, roofs replaced, trees trimmed, snow shoveled, hot water heaters installed, and air conditioners repaired. We’ve welcomed groups from Ohio and Michigan and we’ve helped youth groups live missionally in their own city versus traveling out of town.

14 “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven. - Matthew 5:14-16

God is at work in our city through His people. We celebrate this small milestone with God and give Him praise for the ways He’s sustained us through HIs provisions and chose to use us to carry out His mission here in Fort Wayne. It’s by His love that we can love others. Remember that we’re more about people and relationships than we are about projects and numbers. Continue to pray for this ministry, your ministry, and for the 164 projects waiting for assistance on the website. They need to experience what the 300 projects before them have experienced and it’s up to us to share the vision of NeighborLink Fort Wayne to others that can help us serve more people.

Grace and Peace,

I believe that social innovation & the power of a healthy neighborhood can transform communities. I'm the husband of Michelle, father to Avery and the soon to be twin Hoffman Boys. We're the H-Train. We live in a historic neighborhood in South Central Fort Wayne. My day job is the Executive Director of NeighborLink Fort Wayne. Photography has quickly become my go to creative outlet that allows me to capture the moments of life that we hold onto dearly for my family and for others.
