Make It Happen

So, I’ve been trying to create new opportunities to empower more of my friends and volunteers to help ensure projects are getting done at NeighborLink. Not everyone has the time to volunteer, but want to stay connected to the good work that’s being done.

So here is one of those opportunities.

There is a widowed woman named Mary (name changed) who has a leaking roof that desperately needs to be replaced. Mary has been looking for a job for nearly a year. She’s a specialized nurse and has had quite a few interviews, but just hasn’t been able to land the job. Oh, and Mary has beaten cancer twice. She’s trying hard, but has been struck by life’s circumstances and is left in a difficult place. She just doesn’t have the $4,000+ to hire a crew to replace it.

She contacted me several months ago and I quickly posted her project. She didn’t just stop with NeighborLink and give into the battle of finding help. She’s contacted just about every other organization that could possibly help as well, but no luck. Finally, a group from her church decided to enter into partnership with NeighborLink and we’ve been working to secure volunteer leadership and financing over the past couple of months. St Michael Lutheran Church on Getz Rd has done a great job supporting her and finding the help. They’ve also found out how difficult it can be to find the help for a project like this.

Finally we have the leadership and the majority of the funds in place, but we need you help in securing the final funds. This is your opportunity to participate from afar.

Here is the Project Breakdown:

Materials Cost - $1,685.69

St Michael Lutheran Church Donations - $800

NeighborLink Fort Wayne Donation From Grants - $500

We Need $385.69

We’ll take any kind of donation you can give. $5, $10, $100, or whatever you think you can give, know 100% of that donation will go to covering these material costs.

I’ll even provide a FREE NeighborLink T-Shirt for any donation $20 and over.

The project is scheduled to begin this Friday and Saturday. The more you can help us out on this project, the more funds we can designate for other volunteer led projects.

Join the volunteer and NeighborLink in helping Mary with her roof.
