Loving your country shouldn’t just mean watching fireworks on the Fourth of July; loving your country must mean accepting your responsibility to do your part to change it.

Regardless of your political views and without sharing mine, I think this is a very powerful statement. I would even go further in saying that the faith community should be leading the charge as a response to the call of being a follower of Jesus.

We all have things around us that we wish were different or better. For those of us who work directly with people marginalized by whatever system they cannot navigate through or around, I believe this is a statement that fuels why we do what we do. Unfortunately, many of us cannot do it alone and could use more people to pitch in. In our minds, pitching in is steping into the unknown or taking your gifts and talents to the organizations that desperately need them. If you were to ask people that serve in the margins, they would say that life change will be found in that unknown.

Does your life feel like it needs a little change?
