Five guys showed up under the leadership of a NeighborLink coach this Saturday to repair a roof for the Woods family. What was supposed to be an easy, few hour fix turned into a two day project. I’m grateful for the opportunity serve alongside these guys. Let me tell you, roofing all weekend makes for a long weekend.

But, I wouldn’t have traded the experience and the time with these guys for just about anything.

Every time I get on a roof, I’m confronted by the fact that helping people is difficult. Sure, roofing can be difficult work, but it’s difficult internally. I was prepared for a few hours on Saturday, but I wasn’t prepared for two solid days of work. I don’t think these guys were either, but it was the right thing to do and I know we were a blessing to this family. This family is facing a number of home repair needs and just financially can’t cut it. Knowing that water isn’t going to be leaking into their home anymore is a huge burden relieved.

Thanks Arlie, Steve, Sam and Andy for you weekend of hard work.
