LIGHT THE SKY EVENT IS CANCELED

It is with great disappointment I send this email information you that we have to cancel the Light The Sky Event. Excitement has been building to see the skyline filled with hundreds of lanterns commemorating a year of developed relationships through neighborLink Fort Wayne. We apologize that we will no longer be able to gather and share this experience with our friends, families, recipients and supporters.

The Fort Wayne Fire Department and City of Fort Wayne officials have reevaluated the event and deemed it too risky to proceed. They regret having to cancel an event that was given prior approval, particularly on short notice, but feel it’s in the best interest for the safety of the community and downtown area. We understand their concerns and respect their decision to keep our city safe. It’s a reminder that mis-communication happens and canceling an event last minute is not how NeighborLink or the City like to operate.

Thank you to all who planned to participate in Light The Sky or made donations to NeighborLink Fort Wayne. Since the event has been canceled, below are options available to you moving forward.

NEW GAME PLAN
Since we’we have been pre-selling these lanterns and people have made donations, it adds an extra wrinkle in the whole thing, but nothing we can’t work around. Below are some options in moving forward.

1. Want Lantern - You can pick up your pre-ordered lantern beginning at 6:30p tomorrow as scheduled downtown at the courthouse, or you can make arrangements with us to get them at another time. We will have extras on hand that you can purchase if you’d like one but did not pre-order. My event team and I will be on site, so please come say hello if you still choose to come downtown. We can imagine them being launched together.

2. Want to Donate - If you would prefer to just donate the pre-order amount to NeighborLink but not take a lantern, please let me know.

3. Want a Refund - We would be happy to refund your sky lantern purchase. Please let us know if that’s what you’d like to do.

Thank you for understanding and your continued support of NeighborLink Fort Wayne. We’ll come up with another fun way to gather and celebrate in the future.
