July 18th IAK Event Update

Hello Everyone

Just wanted to give you an update about the IAK Day coming up this Saturday.

CODE Enforcement says we CAN mow any yard with a stake in it without fearing being in trouble or messing with a contracted company. So, if you come across a homeowner or a vacant lot that you want to take on with a stake in it, feel secure that it’s a good idea as long as you feel comfortable doing it.

There is no priority listing of yards other than those on the website. We would encourage you to consider helping NeighborLink projects first because they are people who are asking. If that doesn’t work, connect however you feel best.

Mowing Suggestions:
1. Consider homes that people are living in first. Please knock on the door and ask anyone if you mowing their yard is OK first. We don’t want to trespass or cause a conflict.

2. Have a partner or two. It will be safer plus be a lot more fun if you can share the experience with others.

3. If mowing isn’t your thing, that’s ok. Find a way to be generous another way. Check out www.nlfw.org to see if there is another type of project.

4. If you want to help but aren’t sure who to help with, consider contacting another person from the Facebook Group and try to team up. There is a guy who posted a message to the Wall of the event that needs help and has a lot of equipment.

This is going to be great. Use your best judgment and be safe.

let me know if you have questions..
