It’s not that there aren’t ways for outsiders to play crucial roles in the rebuilding of New Orleans — as allies, funders, advisers, and, yes, temporary labor — but it is ultimately the people of the city who have the power and motivation to re-imagine and remake their hometown in a sustainable and just image.

The Trouble with Outside Activists Do-gooders from out of state are still flocking to help New Orleans rebuild. Are they actually doing as much harm as they are good?

Same Goes for Fort Wayne. It is ultimately the residents of each neighborhood to re-imagine and remake their neighborhood into the kind of neighborhood they would like to see. NeighborLink cannot force our agendas into neighborhoods or we’re doomed to fail. We must make ourselves availble for collaboration and free give our resources when asked. We are all about sustainable, self generated change.

I believe that social innovation & the power of a healthy neighborhood can transform communities. I'm the husband of Michelle, father to Avery and the soon to be twin Hoffman Boys. We're the H-Train. We live in a historic neighborhood in South Central Fort Wayne. My day job is the Executive Director of NeighborLink Fort Wayne. Photography has quickly become my go to creative outlet that allows me to capture the moments of life that we hold onto dearly for my family and for others.
