Independent Sector | Research -- The Value of Volunteer Time

The estimated dollar value of volunteer time is $20.25 per hour for 2008 per the stats posted at this link that pull the data from the FASB.

If we work out the total value of the 4.18 Service Event it would approximately look something like this.

500 Volunteers

3-4 hours of service per volunteer

1500 - 2000 total hours @ $20.25

$30,375 - $40,500

We don’t put a lot of weight into these numbers at NeighborLink but we do find it interesting to understand what monetary value our society puts on a volunteer hour. We think it’s unmeasurable the personal impact one can have on another’s life.

But, we think seeing a dollar amount is kinda cool
