I'm Back From CCDA & Energized!

I’m back from the CCDA Conference in Chicago and entering into the work week trying to clear out the email box and catch up on all the “to-dos" that I missed.

Even though today is packed with things to do, I start the week encourage, renewed and reminded why NeighborLink exists and the role we’re called to play in Fort Wayne.

The Theme of the conference was Remember the Past, Rejoice in the Present, and Re-Imagine the Future and revolved around this passage,

Isaiah 58:12 - “Your people will rebuild the ancient ruins and will raise up the age-old foundations; you will be called Repairer of Broken Walls, Restorer of Streets with Dwellings.”

I entered into this conference looking for some relief from the massive burden of the NeighborLink recipients’ needs. The energy, passion and content of this conference provided the relief needed. Over 3,000 people from around the country, and a few from around the world, gathered to learn from each other and more important, remind each other that we’re not alone in what we do. CCDA did a really good job moving us through the theme they set for the conference with their plenary speakers and panels.

Some thoughts I took away….

  • Continue giving the donor the environment that allows them to participate or carry out their passions, not just donate.
  • Continue eliminating the excuses & barriers between churches and those in need in our community
  • Continue tending to the foundation of which any solid CCD organization is founded on, the word of God.
  • Build a solid network of friends who can journey through the tough times with you

The conference is in Indianapolis next year and I’m eager to expose a number of local friends to the conference. Until then, the mission must go on.
