Babies a Coming - An Ode to my Wife

Isn’t that belly beautiful? My wife is down to the final days before she labors to bring our twin boys into this world. This is something that is becoming more real for us as we count down the days and she grows even more uncomfortable. It’s been real to her for months and it’s been keeping her awake for weeks as they get most active when she sleeps. Not to mention, consider trying to change sleeping sides with a 25lb bowling ball strapped to your belly.

The characteristics that I love the most about my wife have been shining over the past couple of months as she carries these babies, prepares our home for their arrival, continues working, and continues to be a fantastic mother to our 2.5yr old daughter. My wife doesn’t complain, doesn’t slow down, and presses on as if she was born for this moment in time. I’m incredibly proud of my wife and grateful that she’s the mother of our children. I couldn’t imagine raising kids without her. She’s a champ!

I will never know what she’s going through completely and I’m sure I’ve not supported her as well as I would if I knew the ramifications of gaining over 30 pounds and having babies kick your ribs all day. However, I know that the connection to the babies only a woman can have is part of God’s master plan for humanity. I believe we’re supposed to be just where we’re at.

If you can’t tell, I love my wife and I’m excited to become a family of 5 before the end of the year. The “H-Train," what we call ourselves these days, is ready for this new season of life. We can’t wait to see how we all turn out in the end and what unique experiences we get to have as a family.

If we don’t emerge from our house for the next couple of years, you know why. Just bring food and diapers.
