Advisory Group #1 - 9.10.08

Last night was a great night as we launch what is officially going to be called the Advisory Group. Last night, 10 of us sat in the Rialto Theatre and discussed what NLFW is all about, what’s been going on, and what the potential of the group could be.

We began by having everyone mark their church and their home on the city quadrant maps pictured above to give a visual representation of how big our city is and how lofty of a goal it would be to meet the needs of the entire city as an organization or even as only a handful of churches. That in order for us to shine a light in the darkest areas of town and even for us to shine a light in the neighborhoods of hurting citizens, it’s going to take a big effort. That it may even be the craziest thing we could be thinking is possible.

We then moved into me discussing and filling everyone in on the inner working of the organization so everyone knows what the organization is setup to do and where our potential growth areas are.

I left everyone with the following scripture to make our responsibility as an organization and as individuals known again. Our goal for the next few months is to pray for the initiatives in front of us.

Matthew 25:34-36

34"Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. 35For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, 36I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’
