6.18 Message From The Link - Why Input Is Important

Without input, how can we grow, adapt, change, or approve?

I’m learning more and more about the power of an individual voice.

All of our voices, when combined around a collective mission, can provoke change.

It’s been done with abortion, Darfur, children rights, women’s rights, disabilities, the marginalized, and on and on. It’s central to the narrative of Exodus. The call of the oppressed, when combined, can and will be heard.

In today’s society, it’s most commonly directed towards our consumerism. When the items we purchase don’t quite work out the way they were supposed to, we speak up towards the issues. We fight the injustices that we feel deep inside and feel wronged. We set out to set what was wrong right.

In most instances, our voices are used to fight for ourselves and can have a negative tone. This email is to share an idea of the power our voices have for positive change.

Great organizations strive to create positive experiences for their customers/associates and only stop when a customer is satisfied in the process. Think through the best experiences you’ve had with your consumer purchases and your volunteer efforts in the past. What made them great? Customer service? The right products? The right experience for you?

The only way these organizations got there was by creating an environment where consumers/supporters felt like their input mattered.

As the Executive Director of NeighborLink, I’m trying to create an open environment for you to provide input. We have nothing to sell and actually, we need maybe your most valuable resource, TIME. So, in order for me to expect you to give your time to our organization, I know the process needs to be as free of barriers as possible.

In that spirit, I’ve created a survey looking for some basic information from you regarding how well you know our organization and how you connect to us. I intend to take this information and then specifically ask various other surveys so I can create resources for you and help explain various info that will help you connect to service.

If you could please take less than 5 minutes to click some boxes and provide some input, it would be appreciated.

Your voice is important to us. It has the potential to direct NeighborLink. It has the potential to change our City.
