Day 16 of Gratitude - My Dad

31 Days of Gratitude - In an attempt to publicly express my gratitude for the people that have impacted me in some way in 2015, I'm setting out to write one post a day sharing what I appreciate about them or what moment that marked me. Some of these people I know well, some I've only met, and some I'm just getting to know. There is no ranking to these posts and they aren't meant to put anyone on a pedestal. They, like you and I, are imperfect people with their own flaws, some you may have experienced. Despite those flaws, I believe we all need to have our positive characteristics called into light and celebrated. This is that attempt.

I could probably fill up 31 days of blog posts on the different ways I'm grateful for my father to which I'm sure would still be insignificant to the full extend of my gratitude. I've been fortunate to have a father that has loved me well, taught me a ton of life's lessons as well as tangible skills, included me in just about everything he could growing up, and who has saved the day more times than possible to count.

I'm grateful for the way he loves his grandkids by going out of his way to setup a full sized tent in their living room during a recent sleepover, or by getting his three wheeler out for rides every time we're there. I'm grateful for the patience when I call about random car or house problems that I'm sure are hard to diagnose over the phone. There is always time, always an answer, and always a "good luck, let me know how it goes."

Thanks for being a good dad. It has shown me that my kids are more important than a whole lot of other things, and to always try to include them wherever I can, regardless of what I'm doing. I hope I can be as helpful to them as they grow up as you've been to me.

Love you, dad.
